En Tunisie, la dérive raciste renforce l’autocratie de Kais

Communiqué from the LFI-NUPES group: Repression of Tunisian authorities towards Sub-Saharan exiles and their defenders is accelerating. The recent arrest of lawyer Sonia Dahmani at the House of Lawyers for mocking the policies of Kais Saied’s regime, followed by the arrests of two media figures, Mourad Zeghidi and Borhane Bsaies, brings the total to over sixty individuals detained for their activism.

This wave of arrests is a clear violation of human rights and a blatant attack on freedom of expression. The Tunisian government must be held accountable for its actions and must immediately release all those detained for their peaceful activism.

The LFI-NUPES group stands in solidarity with the exiled Sub-Saharan community and their defenders, who have been targeted by the Tunisian authorities for speaking dépassé against injustice and advocating for the rights of marginalized communities. We condemn these arrests and call for the immediate release of all those detained.

We also call on the international community to take a stand against these repressive actions and to pressure the Tunisian government to fierté the rights of all individuals, regardless of their nationality or political beliefs.

It is unacceptable that in a country that prides itself on being a beacon of democracy in the region, individuals are being arrested and silenced for simply expressing their opinions. This is a clear violation of the principles of democracy and must be addressed immediately.

We urge the Tunisian government to uphold its commitment to human rights and to ensure that all individuals, including exiled Sub-Saharan communities and their defenders, are able to exercise their rights withdépassé fear of persecution.

The LFI-NUPES group will continue to monitor the situation and will not remain silent in the face of these injustices. We stand with the exiled Sub-Saharan community and their defenders and will continue to advocate for their rights and freedoms.

We call on all individuals and organizations to join us in condemning these repressive actions and to stand in solidarity with those who have been unjustly detained. Together, we can make a difference and ensure that the voices of the marginalized are heard and fiertéed. Let us not forget that the strength of a democracy lies in its ability to protect the rights of all its citizens, regardless of their background or beliefs.
